The Significance of Organ Donation Memorial Artworks

We were invited to Donarte 2023 to give a presentation on the significance of organ donation memorial artworks.

Donarte 2023 marked the second global conference hosted in Messina, Sicily, from September 29th to October 1st. The event derived its name from the amalgamation of "donation" and "art". The collective mission was to facilitate the exchange of invaluable knowledge to foster progress in this vital topic.

Commonwealth Tribute to Life Webinar

We recently took part in a webinar around the theme of ‘Honouring Deceased Donors’. This is part of a larger webinar series for the Commonwealth Tribute to Life project. When we were asked to take part, we felt very honoured and thrilled to share our expertise with the other commonwealth countries.

APPLE BLOSSOM – PRODUCTION

The Milton Keynes University Hospital organ donation committee specified they would like a ‘tree of life’ where organ donor names could be added over the years. They informed us that there was limited wall space and a low ceiling. ‘No problem’ we replied.

MEDWAY HERO BOARDS

A few years ago we designed and installed a very large wall artwork to recognise and commemorate organ donation at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent. Dr Gillian Fargher, Chair of the Organ and Tissue Donation Committee, and also Regional Chair, along with Dr Paul Hayden the Clinical Lead for Organ Donation, wanted to remember every organ and tissue donor. And with a lot of determined effort on their part to overcome some difficult hurdles … the resulting artwork is here!
