Apple Blossom

Organ donation wall sculpture for Milton Keynes University Hospital

The gnarled branches of this ‘Tree of Life’ depict an apple tree bursting with springtime blossoms. This close-up view is intended to make the onlooker feel as if immersed amongst its upper branches. Trees have been used throughout time to symbolise immortality and regeneration, an appropriate inspiration for an uplifting memorial to organ donors.

We have designed this sculptural wall artwork so that over the years individual names of organ and tissue donors can be added to each blossom. There are over 200 blossoms in total! The artwork is created in printed aluminium, the shapes cut out and fitted to the wall add depth and lustre. The positioning of the branches leave space for a piano to be an integral part of this artwork.
